This position reports to the Associate Executive Director of Governmental Relations and will be headquartered in IASBs Lombard office./ppPosition Summary: The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing support to the Governmental Relations Department by aiding the team with core activities and providing administrative support to the Associate Executive Director and staff. Responsibilities include assisting with communications and publications, scheduling and organizing virtual and in person IASB meetings and events, organizing travel accommodations, filing IASB expense and other reports, managing legislative information and calendars, staffing Association committees, and communicating with school board members./ppEducation and/or Experience Requirements: The Administrative Assistant, Governmental Relations position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, basic knowledge of the Illinois legislative process, five years related administrative work experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates should possess exceptional interpersonal skills, proficiency in word processing and Microsoft Office Suite, ability to use of the Illinois General Assembly, Illinois Secretary of State, and Illinois State Board of Elections websites, and basic knowledge of how to work with databases, charts, and graphs. Additional competencies include proofreading and editing skills, the ability to organize office space, files, and data, and high degree of self-motivation and time management./ppThis position requires the employee to be able to lift, move, and safely handle boxes and materials up to 25 pounds.
