What you will do: - Grow in a fulfilling career as an Airport Security Screener at the Kansas City International Airport (MCI) working alongside a team of aviation security professionals.
- You will use your outstanding customer service and critical-thinking skills while ensuring passenger safety by identifying dangerous objects in baggage, cargo, and/ or on the passengers themselves, and preventing those objects from being transported aboard the aircraft.
Responsibilities and skills specific to this role include, but are not limited to: - Passenger and Baggage screening using various electronic imaging and screening equipment
- Perform critical safety tasks such as conducting pat-down searches, operating x-ray machines and hand-held wands
- Courteously communicate and interact with travelers, providing directions and responding to inquiries calmly.
- Lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds or assisting others in lifting
- Ability to stand and remain standing for periods of up to three hours
- Possess proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking, and listening)
- Ability to successfully complete required classroom and on-the-job training and certification exams
Work Schedule: - Ability to work any day, Monday - Sunday, and any shift between 12:00 AM and 11:59 PM
What you will need: - Be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED)
- Pass a computerized assessment (pattern recognition and 2D/3D spatial reasoning)
- Pass and maintain required medical evaluations, including vision, hearing, and joint mobility
- Pass pre-employment drug screening and remain compliant throughout employment.
- Must meet eligibility requirements for a TSA Public Trust, including successful completion of post-offer background, criminal, and financial checks.
