MGM Healthcare provides rehabilitation, skilled nursing, long-term care, assisted living, and independent living centers in Iowa, Missouri and Oklahoma. Our centers provide on-site therapy and rehabilitation services - using the latest equipment and techniques - that run the gamut from physical and occupational therapy to special memory units and respite care. Our corporate office is located in St. Louis, Missouri. This position will be based out Missouri and move between facilities as needed throughout Oklahoma.

Regional Nurse Consultant

Summary

The primary purpose of the Regional Nurse Consultant is a Registered Nurse that acts as the primary resource person for facilities' Directors of Nursing by providing professional nursing expertise in the assessment of patient needs, the development of actions plan, aiding in goal accomplishment and monitoring progress. This position provides assistance and support to assure the best possible level of care to residents consistent with nursing standards. This person also provides accurate, timely advice, consultation and interpretation of governmental regulations applicable to nursing services.

The Regional Nurse Consultant is responsible to carry out specific duties as assigned in accordance with MGM Healthcare written policies and procedures. The Regional Nurse Consultant will be responsible for varied clinical or clinically related duties and will function under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer and Regional Director of Operations. The Regional Nurse Consultant may be assigned to temporarily fill a vacant Registered Nurse or Director of Nursing position at a facility.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Implement standards of nursing practice reviews and revising as necessary to reflect changes in nursing practice and resident population.
  • Routinely visits assigned facilities to review, monitor, audit and assist the quality of nursing care provided to the residents.
  • Reviews all state reportable incidents and provides assistance as needed to ensure appropriate interventions are in place and policy has been followed.
  • Assesses the knowledge, skills, techniques and procedures of the Director of Nursing.
  • Reviews the documentation of nursing care for accuracy, timeliness and applicability.
  • Provides support in problem solving, policy forming conferences for patient care services.
  • Provides assistance and support in maintaining a culture of safety and quality. Reviews and analyzes state survey and quality assurance results to assist in the development of actions plans.
  • Participates in pre-survey visits to assist facilities in preparation for the Annual survey.
  • Stay abreast of current Medicare and Medicaid regulations, as well as prepare for upcoming changes in a proactive manner.
  • Implement corporate directives, and act as an internal resource and support for facility Director of Nursing and other support staff.
  • Conduct educational in-services as needed.
  • Ensure staff has the necessary tools to efficiently monitor care services provided.
  • Evaluate, sustain, and improve existing clinical procedures and practices where needed.
  • Report findings, conclusions, actions and plans to the facility Administrator, Director of Nursing, Regional Director of Operations and member of MGM Clinical Leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current license by this state as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum two (2) years prior experience in resident care services management; preferably in a long care setting as a Director of Nursing.

  • Maintains and ensures resident confidentiality at all times
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled and be willing to travel

  • Attends and/or performs departmental in-services.
  • Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with all departments and Regional staff
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner
  • Attends committee, CQI and management meetings, as appropriate
  • Assist with the recruitment, selection, training and orientation for new Director of Nursing
